Summary
At DSV Contract Logistics, The Data Center, Logistics Technician is responsible for supporting logistics and operational functions within a high-security data center environment. This role ensures the efficient, accurate, and safe handling of inbound and outbound materials, server equipment, and components. The technician performs quality inspections, manages inventory, and assists with rack installation and equipment setup while maintaining adherence to company safety, quality, and 5S standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Oversee and perform the loading and unloading of inbound and outbound freight, ensuring proper handling, documentation, and accuracy of shipping and receiving records.
* Conduct quality inspections on all incoming and outgoing materials to verify correct part numbers, quantities, and pristine condition of assets.
* Execute daily cycle counts and inventory replenishment of critical spare parts to support uptime and operational continuity within the data center.
* Process return shipments of electronic components using various Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
* Oversee and perform placement of server racks on the data center floor using laser measuring tools to ensure precise alignment and configuration.
* Populate server racks with electronic components, install cabling, and configure hardware based on engineering diagrams and schematics.
* Utilize hand and power tools to install rack hardware and related infrastructure components accurately and safely.
* Operate material handling equipment such as straddle stackers, rack movers, and electric pallet jacks to transport materials and equipment.
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by following 5S and safety standards, including daily cleanup and waste removal activities.
* Perform frequent pushing, pulling, and lifting of materials throughout the workday in accordance with ergonomic and safety guidelines.
Educational background / Work experience
* High school diploma or GED required; associate or technical degree preferred.
* Minimum 2+ years of experience in warehouse, logistics, or data center operations.
* Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory tracking processes.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and installation diagrams.
* Experience operating material handling equipment safely and effectively.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality control.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-security environment.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills.
* Must be able to pass background checks and security clearance requirements per client or site standards.
Language skills
* English (Reading, Writing, Verbal).
Physical and/or Mental Requirements / Working Conditions
Work is primarily sedentary and performed in an office or remote setting, requiring frequent use of a computer, phone, and other standard office equipment. Some movement, such as standing, walking, or light lifting (up to 15 pounds), may be necessary to perform daily tasks or support on-site recruiting events. The role may occasionally require travel to driver terminals, job fairs, or other recruiting locations, which could involve extended periods of standing or walking. Hours may be extended or staggered to support multi-shift recruiting needs and to maintain communication with candidates across time zones. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly use their hands for typing and handling documents, as well as engage in frequent talking and listening. Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
