Job Overview

The Physical Therapist I provides physical therapy services including evaluation, treatment and follow up and documentation using general competencies for inpatient and outpatient children referred to the physical therapy department. Provides supervision for PT aides/assistances and students with specific tasks and/or patients. Provides continues consultation and education to families. The Physical Therapist I is an entry level position in a Career Advancement Program (CAP).

The Sports Medicine Center at Children's Hospital Colorado leads the region in state-of-the-art treatment for young athletes. Our fully integrated team of sports medicine doctors, athletic trainers, physical therapists, and pediatric specialists delivers care geared exclusively toward growing bodies. Physical therapists on this team are experts in evaluation and treatment of adolescent athletes who are returning to high levels of activity. Clinicians treat in our sports medicine dedicated clinics where patient population is typically aged 12-20 and made up of various operative and non-operative diagnoses specific to the young athlete. Experience in movement analysis, advanced exercise progression, and return to sport decision making for the upper and lower extremity is preferred. Clinicians are also expected to communicate with physicians, parents, coaches, athletic trainers, and performance coaches as needed to maximize rehabilitation opportunities and set expectations for key people involved in the athlete's return. This program has a strong emphasis in evidence-based practice, research initiatives, community outreach and professional growth, and collaborates frequently across our six locations. The right fit for our team is a physical therapist who has experience (OCS or SCS preferred), is passionate about sports medicine, works well in a team setting, and is committed to professional development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

1. Collaborates with the family, physicians, schools, and other providers to ensure the continuum of care for the child and optimal clinical services. Provides consultation and education to other professionals and families as necessary.
2. Completes written documentation in accordance with department standards for format, location, and time frames.
3. Independently evaluates patients with a variety of diagnosis, in specialized programs, on inpatient and/or outpatient units. Incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services.
4. Assists in achieving departmental financial budget targets.
5. Demonstrates leadership and participates in systematic, planned professional development to improve the clinical, educational, research, and advocacy goals of the department and hospital.
6. Provides consultation and education to families.
7. Treat children across the continuum, with a variety of diagnoses, in specialized programs on inpatient and outpatient units and in the community. Incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services. Seeks out appropriate mentoring/training and consults with relative Program Coordinator and/or assigned mentor for complex patient diagnoses.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or related field of study
EXPERIENCE - Preferred 1 - 3 years
CERTIFICATION(S) - BLS for Healthcare Providers/CPR. OCS/SCS preferred.
LICENSURE - State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Physical Therapist license; Credentialing must be completed by the Medical Staff Office (MSO) within 3 months of employment

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience. Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $78,659.24 to $117,988.86
