Department:Counseling, Adult, & Rehabilitation Education

Summary of Job Duties:Adjunct Faculty to teach one or two courses (3-6 credit hours) per semester. Courses will support one of our undergraduate program areas. These areas include Physical and Health Education Teacher Preparation, Health Education and Promotion, Exercise Science, and Sport Management. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy. Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Completed Master's degree in Kinesiology, Health Education and Promotion, or a closely

    related field;

  • Two or more years of experience teaching undergraduate Health/Physical Education or Kinesiology courses;

  • Experience in teaching face-to-face and in hybrid/online environments;

  • Teaching ability in at least two, and preferably more, of the following content areas:

    • (1) K-12 Physical Education (teaching methods, skill classes);

    • (2) Exercise/Fitness/Wellness;

    • (3) Sport Management;

    • (4) Health Education and Promotion.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Record of teaching, student advising/mentorship, and institutional service;

  • Willingness to work collaboratively on projects and grants;

  • Active or previous involvement in professional organizations;

  • Relevant professional certifications from nationally accredited organizations (e.g., CHES, ACSM, NSCA).

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in the discipline as assigned by the program coordinator;

  • Keep course content timely and in line with accreditation standards;

  • Maintain contact with students via email and UALR's learning management system

    (Blackboard).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in classroom instruction;

  • Ability to manage, motivate and evaluate students;

  • Collegial attitude in interactions with colleagues, students, and staff;

  • Effective interpersonal communication skills;

  • Ability to teach and mentor students.
