How You'll Make an Impact
Dudek is looking for a dynamic Production Specialist interested in joining an employee-owned company focused on shaping sustainable natural and urban environments. Our ideal candidate provides production and delivery/coordination support for technical reports, proposals, and other business documents.


Dudek is a leading environmental and engineering firm that contracts with public and private clients. Our Publications group is an energetic team that helps to craft and publish a wide range of deliverables.

This is an in-office position based out of our Encinitas office in San Diego, Ca.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Produces and distributes physical deliverables for the Publications group. Tasks may include printing, binding, folding, collating, cutting, trimming, laminating, packaging, and mailing.
  • Coordinates with outside vendors to obtain cost quotes, obtain shipping software updates, and/or coordinate off-site production and shipping as required.
  • Maintains production- and distribution-related supply inventory and equipment. Requests equipment service as needed, places orders to replenish stock, and obtains project-specific special materials as requested. Ensures tidy, organized production environment.
  • Works with other Publications team members to ensure that projects are completed according to established requirements and on schedule.
  • Reports status and notifies supervisor when help is needed.
  • Provides time and cost estimates for production- and distribution-related tasks as requested.
  • Actively contributes to the development of departmental procedures and best management practices.
  • Provides data entry support as needed.
  • Occasionally makes off-site pickups or deliveries. Valid California Driver's License required.
  • Provides as-needed Publications support services requested by supervisor or other team members.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma and relatedprofessional experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in shipping/receiving using services offered by U.S. Postal Service, FedEx, and UPS and / or willingness to learn.
  • Able to work in a traditional office setting Monday-Friday during normal business hours.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by the first day of employment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with document production teams is desired and familiarity with terminology of environmental sciences is a plus.
  • Impeccable attention to detail. Experience following project delivery specifications is desired.
  • Problem-solving capabilities, with an emphasis on managing document production schedules to meet established deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills. Able to describe problems and solutions to team members. Able to provide accurate work forecasts and status.
  • Teamwork skills. Capable of constructively teaching and learning from teammates. Positive attitude in the face of changing demands and deadlines.
  • Leadership skills. Team-building skills are required.
  • Adaptability. Able to rapidly self-teach new software applications, able to be productive under changing demands and deadlines.
  • Excellent general software skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat (including understanding of PDF settings and creation as well as creating, merging, and troubleshooting markup in PDF). Working knowledge of relational database programs and database management systems are a plus.

Compensation:$25-28/hourly*
*Final agreed-upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, an individual's related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location. Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check prior to beginning employment.

Environment
  • This job operates in a remote or office-based environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc.
  • This job will require occasional project site visits or surveys, based outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, and moving vehicles and equipment.

Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This job requires the following:
  • Working on a computer, sitting, or standing for long periods of time in an office or remote office setting.
  • Attending meetings, both in person and virtually, and speaking on the phone with peers, clients, etc.
  • Specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Conducting biological fieldwork in variable and sometimes rugged terrain, often under adverse weather conditions (e.g., heat, cold, rain).
  • Walking long distances, kneeling, stooping, or crouching for extended periods of time.
  • Carrying equipment and field gear weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Working in proximity to insects, wildlife, and potentially hazardous environments (e.g., wetlands, uneven ground).
  • The ability to drive a vehicle long distance to and from remote field sites, sometimes requiring early start times or extended days.
