The Instructional Design Assistant plays a key role in supporting the mission of the Instructional Design department by coordinating complex processes essential to the department's success. This position works collaboratively with Baker College faculty, administrators, content experts, and members of the instructional design team on assigned projects, contributing to the creation of high-quality, engaging curriculum. In partnership with instructional designers, the assistant gains a deeper understanding of the design process and the standards associated with quality course development. The role supports continuous improvement efforts by reviewing course designs, building courses within the learning management system (LMS), and facilitating the Approved Instructional Materials (AIM) process for the Academic Department. Additional responsibilities include creating accessible course documents, resolving course fix requests, and developing and maintaining academic reports and dashboards as assigned. The Instructional Design Assistant also participates in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance skills and contribute to departmental growth.


A Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university is required for this position. The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service. Proficiency in computer skills, including the ability to navigate computer-related technologies, is essential. A strong understanding of higher education, including academic policies, degree requirements, and procedures, is critical for success in this role. The ability to analyze and interpret complex academic records with high accuracy is a must. Additionally, candidates should be able to prioritize tasks effectively, manage a varied workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The role requires both the independence to work autonomously and the ability to collaborate seamlessly with different departments across the institution.
