Job Summary

Designs, implements, and administers employee benefit programs, including health, disability and life coverage plans, and wellness and disease management programs. Ensures the organization retains a competitive benefits posture in the marketplace. Ensures benefits programs are aligned with the company's benefits philosophy and overall talent strategy. Maintains compliance with all legal requirements of various employee benefits programs. Designs, implements, and administers retirement and savings plans. Manages various carrier and vendor relationships.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Conducts and participates in benefit surveys, providing recommendations for changes and enhancements.
  • Responsible for performing an array of activities involving research, preparation, administration, monitoring, training and delivery of information.
  • Resolves benefit issues as they occur. Documents escalations and makes recommendations to manager regarding responses and any related changes to processes or programs.
  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures concerning employee benefit plans.
  • Assists manager with ensuring that plans are optimally aligned with company strategy.
  • Works with outside vendors to maintain systems for the administration of various benefits programs.
  • Interfaces regularly with vendors, customers and or internal staff to communicate information.
  • Ensures preparedness for internal audits and other program compliance requirements
  • Implements and manages benefit programs. Maintains open communications with management regarding status.
  • Supports the creation and implementation of department and company-wide initiatives.
  • Serves on various benefits related project teams.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with the support and development of benefits applications and systems including PeopleSoft.
  • Experience in benefits administration and financial analysis/reporting (i.e. multiple benefit plans including health, disability, life and pension plans).
  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline.
  • Generally 5-8 years of experience in a related field; certification is required in some areas OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in a related field.
