Job Summary

The Environmental Manager supports environmental compliance programs, permitting projects, emissions testing and monitoring programs across multiple business units. This role also requires collaboration with Technical and plant operations regarding the implementation of air pollution control strategies.


Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Operations on the implementation and optimization of emission control and monitoring technologies.
  • Oversee environmental stack testing programs and internal stack test protocols. Maintain testing schedule for all cement plants. Provide in-house expertise to CEMEX on emissions monitoring and testing.
  • Oversee quality assurance programs for the Continuous Monitoring Systems for all cement plants. Assist in the resolution of CMS issues.
  • Lead the standardization, implementation, training, reporting, and recordkeeping tasks associated with the CMS QAP, O&M, SSMP, SPCC and BMP.
  • Support the environmental compliance auditing program and EMS auditing program relating to emissions monitoring and testing (includes tracking completion of corrective actions identified).
  • Propose corporate and site level environmental objectives, targets, and performance indicators, to drive continuous environmental performance improvement across the organization.
  • Facilitate the implementation of the Environmental Management System (EMS) at the cement plants. This includes developing and maintaining programs, procedures and tools.
  • Assist with regulatory permitting, as directed, for cement plants and terminals. Review draft permits and provide comments. Assist Environmental Managers in developing compliance plans.
  • Prepare and maintain the environmental compliance reports. (BSC, Env Incidents, Env Team Report, Tracker Systems, Permits dates, NOV database, etc). Define trends and action plans.
  • Promote cross-share learnings and action plans. Includes the development, implementation, and cross-check of compliance strategies for key issues.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, chemistry or relevant degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of technical experience in industrial sector, preferably construction materials, oil & gas or related industry
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in regulatory agency engagement

Working Conditions

  • Ability to travel up to 20-50% as business requires
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment
  • Capability to work extended hours and be on call as necessary
  • Ability to work with standard office/computer equipment
  • Capable of working in an open office environment


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up 10-15lbs frequently, walk, climb stairs & ladders, sit, stand, crouch, and stoop.
  • Ability to use computers, read, write and communicate clearly.
  • Ability to comply with all MSHA & CEMEX safety regulations and able to utilize all required PPE as needed.

The expected base compensation for this position ranges from $98k to $147k depending on, but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skill sets, experience, and education.
