Position Summary

The Senior Director of Emerging Technology Launch will play a critical role in shaping the future of technology-enabled care at Boston Children's Hospital. By driving the discovery and adoption of emerging technologies, this role will directly contribute to improved patient outcomes, operational excellence, and Boston Children's position as a global leader in pediatric innovation.

This role will serve as a strategic and operational leader responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing new technology initiatives within the Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Medicine. This individual will drive innovation at the intersection of engineering, clinical care, and digital transformation-accelerating the translation of emerging technologies from concept to clinical integration.

The Senior Director will collaborate with BCH innovation offices, technology partners, and clinical leadership to evaluate, pilot, and scale new solutions that advance patient care, optimize departmental operations, and strengthen Boston Children's leadership in pediatric innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Leadership:
  • Develop and lead a unified departmental strategy for emerging technologies aligned with BCH enterprise innovation goals.
  • Partner with clinical and administrative leaders to identify operational challenges and design technology-driven solutions.
  • Establish frameworks for evaluating and launching pilot programs with measurable outcomes and long-term sustainability.
Innovation and Implementation:
  • Evaluate new technologies-including AI, automation, and digital health tools-for feasibility and clinical relevance.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to design, test, and integrate digital solutions that enhance care delivery and efficiency.
  • Oversee regulatory, data privacy, and safety reviews for technology adoption.
Collaboration and Partnerships:
  • Serve as liaison between the department, BCH innovation entities, IT, and external academic or industry partners.
  • Facilitate collaborations that support research, commercialization, and clinical translation of new technologies.
  • Support faculty and trainees in leveraging emerging technologies for research and quality improvement initiatives.
Operational and Financial Oversight:
  • Manage resources and vendor relationships for technology projects.
  • Track outcomes, adoption metrics, and return on investment for implemented solutions.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in healthcare innovation, technology development, or related leadership roles.
  • Experience within an academic medical center, hospital innovation program, or biomedical engineering environment preferred.
  • Proven success leading multidisciplinary teams and implementing complex technology initiatives in healthcare or life sciences.
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows, healthcare data systems, and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated strategic and systems thinking with the ability to align innovation initiatives to enterprise goals.
  • Expertise in technology translation, digital transformation, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong project management, change management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain partnerships across clinical, operational, and industry environments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence across diverse teams and leadership levels.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
