Job Summary

Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of analytical practices, policies and procedures; researches, analyzes and develops solutions to a wide range of issues. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Primarily deals with policies, programs and proposals which are complex in nature and diverse in scope. Develops new programs, policies or procedures for possible implementation.

Brief summary of the Project: This randomized controlled study will test the effectiveness of a peer-group discussion model, Talking Circles (TCs), and hearing protection training program delivered in partnership with a regional population with high occupational and recreational noise exposure. The model integrates established hearing conservation education methods with screening services and behavioral assessments. A needs assessment conducted with community health partners indicated limited awareness of early hearing loss detection and a high volume of hearing aid requests. The intervention will include facilitator training for local implementation and a delayed-intervention control to assess knowledge gains and protective behavior changes.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Certain terms and conditions of employment for this position, including the rate of pay, benefits, etc are currently subject to negotiation with the appropriate union.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $80,200 - $120,300 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Department of Community Health Systems promotes and sustains health in the community and workplace, with particular emphasis on communities and vulnerable populations. The department is committed to improving health and health care for those served by community-based health care systems through educating nurses whose foci include the individual, community and health system, conducting research, and providing services in the community to address the health issues of those who are not well-served by the traditional institution-based health care system.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • 3 years+ experience managing research projects
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills across multiple contexts and collaborators
  • Ability to think creatively and independently on both research concepts and logistics within demanding timeframes, using strong analytical and communication skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively across diverse team and to establish cooperative relationships with stakeholders
  • Excellent project management skills; demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize, multitask and meet multiple deadlines on concurrent projects, in a team-based, Native American Tribal environment
  • Prior experience working in health professional field in the area of community-based/population-based health projects
  • Experience developing and leading mixed methods data collection and survey trainings, conducting mixed methods research, and providing oversight to research collaborators
  • Experience interpreting, analyzing and writing-up quantitative and qualitative research

Preferred Qualifications


  • Master of Public Health or other graduate degree in related field
  • Experience participating in human centered design/systems thinking research
  • Experience working in the community and collaborating with research teams in Oklahoma and Texas
