Job Summary

Nidec is currently seeking a technically minded individual with extensive mechanical design knowledge to join our amazing team. The individual will be responsible for supporting the new product development. Title will be dependent on experience. Career path typically progresses from Mechanical to Project Engineer based on customer interaction.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

Create 3D models and/or modify detailed engineering drawings and documentation from preliminary concept, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data.

Build, test, evaluate, and troubleshoot product designs.

Exercise independent judgment in designing components and motor products.

Ensure the completeness and accuracy of all work performed.

Ensure all work complies with corporate standards.

Coordinate product design to Product, Manufacturing, and Quality Departments at other global facilities during prototype and initial production builds.

Communicate designs and changes by making recommendations, proposals and presentations with internal and external customers and suppliers.

Complete engineering change requests.

All other responsibilities as required

The ideal candidate would possess the following skills and abilities:

BS in Mechanical, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Electrical Engineering

3-5 years of CAD design experience in manufacturing environment or a combination of education and experience

Proficient in SolidWorks.

Experience with FEA software

Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings including G.D.&T.

Good analytical skills

FMEA, DFM, & PDM experience is a plus

* Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and minimum 7 years of prior relevant experience
