Tool Room CNC Machinist

(This is an entry level position for tool and die maker)

2nd Shift Tool Room CNC machinists - 3pm - 11pm

3rd Shift Tool Room CNC machinists - 11pm - 7am

Position Summary :

Looking for a Tool Room Machinist with minimum experience which main role is to set up and operate manual and computer-controlled (CNC) machine tools, creating and repairing precision tools, dies, and molds, and assisting experienced tool and die makers in producing and maintaining stamping tooling. Key responsibilities involve reading technical drawings, performing simple machining tasks with supervision, using measuring instruments, with the expectation of progressive learning and increasing responsibility, and adhering to safety protocols, which includes but is not limited to wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hat, face shield, safety glasses, hearing protection and safety steel toe shoes.

Responsibilities :

*Programming and setup:

Interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and work orders to determine dimensions and tolerances.

Program CNC machines using G-code or CAM software.

Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials for each job.

*Operation and production:

Set up, operate, and disassemble manual and CNC machine tools like mills and lathes.

Monitor machine speeds and operations to maintain accuracy and quality.

Produce, repair, and modify precision tools, dies, molds, and other parts.

*Quality control and maintenance:

Inspect finished products using precision measuring tools to ensure they meet specifications.

Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on machinery.

Troubleshoot machine or programming issues.

*Safety and collaboration:

Adhere to safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members.

Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Requirements :

*High school diploma or GED

*Technical training in machining or manufacturing is required with up to 4 years into an apprenticeship program.

*Proficiency with blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning.

*Familiarity with CNC programming (G-code) and CAM software.

*Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills.

*Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.

*Progressive Stamping Dies Maintenance experience (Desired).

*Ability to lift heavy objects.

*Experience with measuring tools (Calipers, Micrometers, Scales, Height Gages).

*Excellent communication skills and working with teams.

*Experience in metallurgic knowledge understanding the properties of metals (Desired).

*Microsoft Software (Office, Excel).
