Job Overview

The Planning Operations Associate will focus on automating and streamlining inventory tasks and reporting, while conducting ad hoc analysis and data extractions to support team strategies and company initiatives. This role collaborates with Inventory Management, Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Merchants and technology teams in order to translate their needs into more efficient long-term solutions.

What You Will Do



  • Develop ad hoc analyses, tools and reports to support inventory strategies
  • Leveraging programming languages such as Python and SQL to manage large data extractions
  • Establish reporting guidelines and best practices to improve accuracy and automation
  • Assist in creating tools and processes to enhance replenishment efficiency
  • Collaborate with Macy's Technology team to report and resolve system defects
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned


Skills You Will Need

Data Analysis & Reporting:Strong analytical skills with experience in Python, SQL and business intelligence tools like Tableau.

Excel Proficiency:Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, macros, and VBA coding for automation.

Process Optimization:Ability to develop tools and processes that enhance efficiency and streamline replenishment tasks.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:Experience working across multiple teams, including Inventory Management, Merchandising, and Supply Chain, to align business objectives.

Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting:Ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and work with technology teams to resolve system defects.

Communication & Influence:Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey insights, influence stakeholders, and drive data-driven decision-making.

Who You Are



  • Candidates with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
  • 4+ years of related experience
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel
  • Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms
  • Requires close vision
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs
