Overview

Counsel is responsible for advising across multiple areas of business law related to the Bank's legal rights and obligations. Counsel relies on both generalist legal knowledge and specialist knowledge of specific functional and product-related activities, to support areas such as contract law, documentation, mergers, acquisitions, corporate, insolvency, real estate, employment, intellectual property, litigation, policy and regulatory topics. Work includes: *Providing legal advice/counsel in business-related areas of expertise (e.g., corporate law, real estate, tax, business litigation, transactions/anti-trust, bank and capital markets regulatory matters, intellectual property, employment/labour, corporate governance, ethics, etc.)

What You'll Do

  • Broad transactional coverage of the Firm's Leverage Debt Capital Markets (LDCM), structured finance, direct lending and asset backed lending businesses within the Deutsche Bank Investment Bank

  • Draft, review, and advise on a wide variety of lending documents, structured finance, including warehouse lending transactions and other related loan products

  • Advise structuring groups in relation to the legal and regulatory framework governing the lending markets and, with Deutsche Bank Legal training, assist in regulatory reviews for capital relief and compliance with certain German and EU legal requirements

  • Work autonomously with various structuring groups to structure transactions that achieve internal and/or client objectives and manage multiple transactions on accelerated schedules

How You'll Lead

  • Provide advice to senior Legal Department management on transactional legal requirements, best practices and technology tools and solutions

  • Collaborate with colleagues globally in the Bank's Legal Department, TDI function and other infrastructure functions

Skills You'll Need

  • The candidate should have at least moderate experience in lending and structured finance work with, if possible, in-house counsel experience,some background in cross-border lending (including with LATAM borrowers), strong analytical and drafting skills, New York qualified(and / or English qualified), and a proven ability to work independently

  • Admission to the New York State Bar or otherwise qualified to practice law in New York as registered in-house counsel

  • Excellent judgment and ability to advise on legal risks and requirements within a business context

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills

Skills That Will Help You Excel

  • Prior in-house in or law firm experience with financial services is a plus

  • Ability to collaborate, cooperate and work well with others in a supportive and respectful manner

  • Ability to handle and strategically prioritize numerous projects and tasks

  • Experience operating in a fast-paced business environment

Expectations

It is the Bank's expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York City office in accordance with the Bank's hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York City is $170,000 to $254,500. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
