Qualifications
Education and Experience
High school diploma/GED.
No experience required.
Licenses or Certifications
Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a valid Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.
Must attend and successfully complete CCPD training for Community Service Officer, 40 hours certified training in Selective Traffic Enforcement Program for Civilians (STEP) within sixty (60) days of hire or promotion.
Must obtain NCIC/FCIC certification within six (6) months of hire or promotion.
Key Responsibilities:
Writes up various types of police reports, i.e. crime/incident reports, supplemental reports, burglary, theft, fraud, and battery, worthless document reports, missing persons reports and runaway juvenile incidents.
Investigates motor vehicle traffic crashes, writes traffic crash reports and issues traffic crash summons.
Enforces City of Cape Coral Codes and Ordinances (i.e.; parking violations, handicap violations, illegal boat parking, etc.)
Directs traffic and responds to calls for service that are non-emergency in nature.
Participates in special details such as transporting victim/witnesses, DUI checkpoints, special task force and holiday events.
Assists a police officer in any non-hazardous situations.
