Nurse Extern - Oncology Unit - Contingent - Shift varies Shift: Varies GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction and supervision of the responsible Registered Nurse, performs specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient using the nursing process. Provides input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures. Recognizes and participates in own continuing education. UNIT OVERVIEW: 29 bed Medical Oncology and Inpatient Hospice unit. This unit sees patients that have cancer diagnoses that may require inpatient chemotherapy/immunotherapy infusions. Comfort, end of life, and hospice care are also provided by the nursing staff. The unit also cares for patients post-bariatric surgery and does not have telemetry.
