Role Overview

We are seeking a cyber underwriting professional to serve as the lead administrator for a Cyber (re)insurance facility. The successful candidate will function as a senior manager, administrator, and underwriter for this facility, ensuring that each submission aligns with the facility's risk appetite, while supporting facility governance, oversight, stewardship, and reporting obligations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct careful underwriting diligence on cyber submissions submitted to the Facility.
  • Assess deal fit against the facility's defined risk appetite, guidelines, and governance criteria.
  • Review and validate proposed terms, limits, retentions, pricing signals, and structure to ensure consistency with the program's objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal and external team members to gather pertinent information and clarify key information.
  • Maintain and reference a formal decision framework (e.g., risk appetite matrix, approval thresholds, and policy manuals) for deal evaluations.
  • Raise complex or borderline cases to senior leadership with well-supported recommendations.
  • Ensure completeness and quality of submissions, including risk assessments, incident history, controls, and remediation plans.
  • Steward the integrity and accuracy of program data, ensuring consistent and reliable encoding into internal systems.
  • Ensure the delivery of timely, high-quality reporting to external facility partners.
  • Monitor portfolio concentration, exposure limits, and aggregation across the Facility; propose adjustments as needed.
  • Facilitate governance review processes, including documentation of approvals, exceptions, and rationale.
  • Provide guidance on how proposed arrangements align with regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for the program, including updates to policy language, templates, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Maintain up-to-date understanding of cyber risk trends, threat landscapes, and technological developments relevant to the Facility.
Required Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Advanced degree or professional designations (e.g., CPCU, ARe, ARM, CFA) are a plus.
  • 7+ years of underwriting experience, with at least five years of dedicated cyber underwriting experience insurance and of direct experience with program administration and portfolio governance is also highly valued.
Skills & Competencies
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex risk information, perform data-driven analyses, and assess cyber insurance policy language.
  • Strong understanding of the cyber peril, current cyber threat landscapes, and key underwriting controls.
  • Proven track record of making sound, governance-focused decisions with an emphasis on prudent risk-taking.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at multiple levels.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation capabilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
Work Environment
  • Location: Hybrid (NYC / Boston office)
  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required for key client meetings or governance sessions.
  • Collaboration: Regular interaction with brokers, actuarial, claims staff, legal/compliance teams, and external facility stakeholders.

Pay transparency laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $140,000 to $180,000 USD annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
