The IOP is group therapy that provides services to adults who benefit from the structure of an intensive clinical program but do not require inpatient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and consulting care to in-patients and/or out-patients.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agency requirements (e.g. JCAHO).
  • Review clinical staff performance to ensure quality of care and efficient use of resources.
  • Maintain clinical activity by full participation in departmental clinical workload.
  • Participate in medical staff leadership activities, especially respiratory care and intensive care.
  • Prepares for, attends and participates in team meetings and daily huddle
  • Collaborates in developing team priorities, patient goals, and care plans
  • Keeps problem list, medication list and patient care plan updated for team members
  • Approves orders and referrals for health maintenance

Qualifications

  • Clinical experience in psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and group-based therapy.
  • Experience working with patients in intensive outpatient settings, especially those transitioning from inpatient care or at risk of hospitalization.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong diagnostic and treatment planning skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload of patients with complex psychiatric needs.
  • Familiarity with dual-diagnosis treatment and evidence-based modalities such as CBT and DBT.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working within a multidisciplinary team.

Education

  • Doctorate in Medicine (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency program.

Licensure

  • Valid medical license to practice psychiatry in the state of Connecticut.
  • Board certification (or eligibility) in Psychiatry.
