This posting has been changed from an SRA 2 to an SRA 3 The Department of Medicine (DOM) is the largest department within the UCSD School of Medicine and is responsible for fulfilling the teaching, research, and clinical missions of the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. The department employs approximately 500 salaried faculty, 168 academic appointees, 331 residents, fellow and postdocs and 479 staff personnel. The Stem Cell Research Lab Manager serves as the primary experimental authority and guide for the Buitrago-Delgado Laboratory at UCSD Department of Medicine and the Division of Regenerative Medicine. Makes instrumental contributions to both the development and execution of a myriad of complex research initiatives. Stem Cell Research Lab Manager performs job duties including but not limited to: training, providing in-direct supervision, mentoring, and providing hands-on technical feedback to experimental trainees; ensuring high-quality training and reliable execution of experimental protocols; spearheading the strategic expansion of the experimental infrastructure, encompassing critical decisions regarding equipment acquisition and reagent sourcing, thereby laying a robust foundation for cutting-edge research; conducting experiments focused on spatial transcriptomics, with an aim to generate invaluable data that will lead to the creation of the first spatial transcriptomics atlas or early mammalian embryogenesis and understanding how cells make developmental decisions. The Stem Cell Research Lab Manager will perform a variety of assays that apply molecular and cellular biology techniques including the design and synthesis of probe libraries, preparation of human and mouse tissue samples, performance of spatial transcriptomics assays, antibody coupling, virus preparation, cell and tissue culture, muse embryo extractions, tissue sample preparation. Additionally, collaborate with the specialists in data analysis, engage in writing papers (methods sections). collaborating with peer groups at UCSD for specialized techniques, particularly in processing tissue samples; ensuring that the Laboratory remains at the forefront of innovative research in stem cells and developmental biology; and performing other duties as assigned. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $69,763 - $112,181 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $33.41 - $53.73 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
