Regional Sales Director Job Description The Regional Sales Director leads and directs the Outside Sales force with the goal of generating aggressive, profitable growth that meets or exceeds the Annual Operating Plan (AOP). This role contributes to developing and executing business growth strategies, contract negotiations, and account/brand forecasting. The Regional Sales Director is responsible for evaluating, motivating, and managing sales representatives' performance, collaborating with key company leaders, and upholding high standards of sales team knowledge and productivity. Job Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct overall efforts of the Outside Sales force to achieve profitable growth aligned with the AOP.
  • Contribute to strategy development and implementation for business growth; execute contracts and forecasting.
  • Evaluate, motivate, and manage sales representatives' performance regarding responsibilities, territory plans, and assignments.
  • Collaborate with VP Global Sales and Marketing Leads to negotiate pricing, contracts, terms, and customer claim settlements to maximize profitability.
  • Supervise the quantity and quality of work performed by the outside sales force.
  • Select, train, and develop Outside Salespersons.
  • Work with VP Global Sales to develop and implement ongoing sales training plans.
  • Assign, plan, and coordinate sales territories and accounts.
  • Assist Business Unit management in planning and sales forecasting.
  • Maintain effective communication with VP Global Sales and other internal contacts.
  • Develop tactical plans to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Require, develop, and monitor sales call schedules and call reports for management feedback.
  • Support the implementation of the new CRM system.
  • Support the implementation of SAP.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Apply business and management expertise to achieve financial and operational objectives.
  • Demonstrate multi-disciplinary functional expertise across departments.
  • Develop area/departmental plans for business, production, and organizational priorities.
  • Manage resources to meet financial and operational goals.
  • Identify and resolve complex technical, operational, and organizational problems.
  • Maintain knowledge of sales processes, market segments, and Carpenter's product line.
  • Execute annual business plans and achieve set goals.
  • Profitably market Carpenter's products and capabilities.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks, making sound decisions under changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Travel extensively over large geographies as needed.
Education and Training Requirements
  • Four-year college degree with emphasis on marketing preferred, or demonstrated equivalent experience as determined by department management.
Relevant Work Experience
  • 10 or more years of sales/marketing experience, including at least two years of prior supervisory experience.
