About the Role:

Join Alcon's Global R&D Strategic Programs Office as a Learning & Engagement Intern, where you'll contribute to high-impact initiatives that enhance Product Development Productivity across the organization. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in instructional design, change management, and strategic communications within a dynamic, innovation-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the design and development of engaging, effective training content aligned with R&D goals and productivity initiatives.

  • Assist in the creation of learning materials including eLearning modules, facilitator guides, job aids, and multimedia assets.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to translate complex technical concepts into accessible learning experiences.

  • Contribute to change management efforts by developing communication plans, stakeholder engagement strategies, and readiness materials.

  • Help coordinate training logistics, including scheduling, tracking, and reporting.

  • Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and feedback cycles to continuously improve learning solutions.

  • Coordinate the R&D Intern Poster Session at the conclusion of the internship period, managing all aspects of event planning including logistics, internal communications, and promotional materials

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited university or college for at least one semester prior to internship or co-op, and at least one additional semester following internship or co-op.

  • Must be pursuing at least a bachelor's level degree in

    Instructional Design, Learning & Development, Organizational Psychology, Communications, or a related field

  • Academic performance: Minimum cumulative GPA 2.8/4.0

  • Demonstrated leadership skills (i.e. extracurricular activities or projects)

  • Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship (students on an F1 visa with CPT can be accommodated)

  • Ability to commit to a full time (40 hrs. per week) Intern position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Instructional Design, Learning & Development, Organizational Psychology, Communications, or a related field.

  • Strong interest in learning strategy, adult learning principles, and digital content creation.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented, creative, and proactive with a collaborative mindset.

  • Familiarity with tools such as Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar is a plus.

  • Exposure to or interest in R&D environments, product development, or life sciences is a bonus.
