The Role

QuidelOrtho is seeking a Principal Software Engineer AI and Informatics. This role will architect and lead the development of cloud-based, customer-facing informatics solutions that leverage medical diagnostic data. This position will play a critical role in high-priority initiatives.

This position is located in San Diego, CA

The Responsibilities

  • Architect and design cloud-based, customer-facing informatics solutions leveraging medical diagnostic information.

  • Drive research on AI-based tooling enablement for solution creation, and drive AI-based tooling adoption across development teams.

  • Execute on development spikes around critical technologies to minimize project risks.

  • Lead multi-disciplinary project teams, including internal team members and external partners.

  • Leverage expert knowledge in cloud, informatics, and AI to improve operational efficiencies and meet compliance requirements.

  • Support new business development effort through solution development, customer visits, proposal writing, technical presentations, and demonstrations.

  • Assist in product root cause investigations, including corrective and preventative actions.

  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

The Individual

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field

  • 15+ years of software development experience, with 10+ years of cloud-based software development experience (Azure and/or AWS) and 3+ years of demonstrable AI tooling experience.

  • 10+ years of technical leadership of solutions with large cloud scale, with demonstrated ability to deliver cloud native applications.

  • 10+ years of technical leadership on software projects of team sizes at least 10 people in size.

  • Hands-on technical leadership with ability to perform development spikes and perform highly technical research.

  • Ability to coach and motivate team members, and lead by example.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to command the room and drive technical vision.

  • Travel is less than 10%.

Preferred:

  • Expert knowledge of C# and Azure.

  • Created software products in a regulated environment such as life sciences or financial.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including: education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, its is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on that facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $188,000 to $225,000 and is bonus eligible.QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time) and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
