We're actively seeking a talented Financial Analysis Consultant to join our Business Insights team in Newport Beach, CA.

As a Financial Analysis Consultant for the Enterprise, you'll move Pacific Life, and your career, forward by providing clarity and insight to the operating expense budget and delivering strategic decision support to Senior Leadership by taking part in the execution of our multi-year budgeting strategy. The Financial Planning & Analysis Consultant plays a critical role in enterprise financial management, with a specific focus on operational expenses. The position will primarily be responsible for budget, forecast, variance analysis, business insights, and enterprise level reporting for Executives and Board of Directors, but will also have extended responsibilities as key finance business partner to various enterprise and divisional leaders. We are seeking a dynamic professional that will build relationships across the enterprise, and foster a culture of disciplined, data-driven expense management strategies, while managing the day-to-day tasks with strong attention to detail and excellent communication/presentation skills.

How you'll help move us forward:

Strategic Expense Planning

  • Prepare and lead financial reviews with senior management. Serve as a business partner and financial control subject matter expert.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to drive forward expense reduction targets and initiatives while maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Provides Board and Executive level reporting around enterprise expenses & initiatives with emphasis on key drivers and performance metrics.

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Manages the day-to-day support of the Enterprise FP&A (expense) team, processes, and framework - covering annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, variance analysis, long term planning, and cost optimization.
  • Provides businesses with transparencies across enterprise shared service allocations and long-term projections to support division plans.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Collaborates with various functional and divisional leaders and be the focal business partner to understand and manage cost, drivers, and value of services through use of various expense KPIs. Provides thought leadership, valuable data analysis and business insights.
  • Apply strong analytical skills to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and communicate findings clearly and effectively to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate exceptional organizational capabilities, a proactive mindset, and a holistic understanding of financial operations and downstream process impacts.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate and collaborate with enterprise and divisional teams in the execution of daily expense management activities and effective support for functional stakeholders.

The experience you bring:

  • 7+ years' work experience in financial planning and analysis (corporate and operations) or related with demonstrated progression of responsibility
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred, Finance, Economics, or Mathematics considered with equivalent work experience in Accounting.
  • Experience as a Business Partner in a cross-functional decision support role within finance
  • Strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and presentation skills required. Must have demonstrable ability to successfully interact with internal and external business partners at senior levels
  • Demonstrates high attention to detail, accountability, and responsiveness to requests, and a good sense of urgency as needed
  • Proven history of fostering teamwork and collaboration across multiple functional areas with competing priorities
  • Effectively handle ambiguity in all aspects of work, including business direction and strategy
  • A high level of initiative and critical thinking to devise actionable solutions
  • Must have strong MS-Office skills (Word, PowerPoint) with expertise in Excel
  • Must have strong Oracle EPM applications experience (Oracle Enterprise Planning & Budgeting, and Profitability and Cost Management, SmartView Excel add in) or equivalent enterprise application

What makes you stand out:

  • CPA/MBA preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with expense allocation methodologies; Activity Based Costing
  • Experience in Alteryx, PowerBI, Tableau

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$148,230.00 - $181,170.00
