Schedule: Part-Time, Night Shift (24 hours/week)

???? Why Join Our Med/Surg Team?

Step into a dynamic, fast-paced 30-bed unit that provides high-quality care to both adult and pediatric patients. While most of our patients are 18+, we also care for a small number of pediatric patients monthly. We serve a diverse range of needs including:

  • Post-operative care (knees, hips, shoulders, colon resections, bariatric surgery)

  • Acute medical conditions (sepsis, pancreatitis, stable pneumothorax)

  • General surgeries (appendectomy, cholecystectomy)

You'll join a team known for its dedication, empathy, teamwork, and clinical excellence.
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6, with strong PCA support.

???? Your Role as a Patient Care Associate

Under the guidance of an RN or LPN, the PCA delivers hands-on care to support each patient's path to recovery.

PCA Responsibilities:
  • Measure and record vital signs in the electronic medical record

  • Assist with daily living needs (bathing, meals, toileting, ambulation, mobility)

  • Provide patient transport and clerical support as needed

Opportunity for Advancement:

Additional PCT Duties (with training):
  • Phlebotomy & blood cultures

  • Wound care & enteral feeding

  • Trach care/suctioning

  • IV & Foley catheter removal

???? Training & Development

Mercy offers a fully accredited Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program, equipping you with hands-on experience and nationally recognized credentials.

New to healthcare? No problem - we provide a comprehensive 175-hour paid training program, meeting Department of Health and Senior Services requirements.

Certifications Required:

  • BLS (within 1 month of hire)

  • PCA Competency completion (within 3 months)

???? Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma, GED, CNA/CPTC, or enrollment in a healthcare-related high school program. Current Mercy co-workers are also eligible.

  • Experience: None required - we'll train you!

  • Preferred Certification: CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift/push/pull 50 lbs regularly

  • Prolonged walking and standing

  • Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, and twisting
