JOB TYPE Classification: Nonexempt Supervises Positions: No JOB SUMMARY The Pharmacy vision is to deliver optimal medication management across all dimensions of care, every time. Each pharmacy team member is essential in ensuring that UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper Pharmacy exists to ensure safe, effective, and affordable medication use in our communities, one person at a time. The Pharmacy Technician serves as a part of the healthcare team at UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper and collaborates with other team members, to provide optimal care. The Technician accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for management and provision of care in accordance with the current policies and procedures. The Pharmacy Technician is able to demonstrates the ability to competently work in different general and specialized areas of pharmacy practice. The essential duties of a pharmacy technician at UVA Community Health are to:
Communication: Ensures timely and consistent communication.
Quality: Checks and controls quality and accuracy of work
Teamwork: Works within a team to achieve patient and team goals.
Teamwork: Develops and delivers effective education to pharmacists and other healthcare providers.
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Experience: 4 years of relevant experience, or 2 years of employment required Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details. Licensure:
Additional Skills/Requirements Required: State Registration and/or evidence of renewal is required for both Pharmacists and Technicians fifteen days prior to expiration and Technicians are required to be either certified through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or be actively enrolled in pharmacy school or be active in Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) or Foreign Pharmacy Equivalency Certification (FPGEC). Considerable knowledge and application of basic math skills, including ratio and proportion relationships; strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Basic technology skills. Other duties as outline in UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper and facility specific policies and procedures. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed. Ability to work as part of a high performing, change ready and resilient team. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Considerable knowledge of medication names (both trade and generic) and their doses, routes of administration, and adverse effects; the ability to demonstrate patient interview skills and strong written and communication skills with other healthcare professionals. Frequent repetitive body movements. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs. occasionally. The base compensation range for this role is $25.00 hourly. Please note that the pay rate does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, and other incentives that may be available for those in eligible positions.
