Currently recruiting a Licensed Massage Therapist to work at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, providing medical care for Active Duty military heroes. The Licensed Massage Therapist position is part-time, schedule varies.
DUTIES OF THE LICENSED MASSAGE THERAPIST:
- The Message Therapist shall provide massage therapy services to all pilots
- The Message Therapist shall provide massage therapy sessions in the prehabilitation room on a regular basis, such that each pilot will receive one (1) hour of massage therapy every two (2) months. These sessions shall be with individual pilots. The Message Therapist shall address specific concerns for each pilot in regards to neck and back pain, range of motion, posture, flexibility, soreness, and muscle tightness. The Message Therapist shall provide common massage therapy techniques, including longitudinal gliding, kneading, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, deep transverse frictions, compression massage, cross-fiber massage, Swedish massage, and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation stretches. Every fighter pilot will have varying degrees of need with regard to massage therapy. The Message Therapist will optimize scheduling to maximize the benefit to the fighter pilots involved. The Message Therapist will determine the optimal time for each therapy visit and ensure as many of the fighter pilots as practical receive therapy. This will involve assessing the greatest needs and implementing a schedule strategy to best meet the needs for massage therapy focusing on neck and back pain.
- The Message Therapist shall continually evaluate all pilots, beginning with an initial evaluation within ninety (90) calendar days of contract start, ongoing evaluations performed at least every six (6) months thereafter for each pilot, and more frequently for those pilots with ongoing neck or back issues.
- The Message Therapist shall communicate with the Strength and Conditioning Coach as required for pilots with specific concerns to address problem areas and adapt each pilot s massage therapy to their individual needs.
- The Massage Therapist shall launder their own sheets using the washer/dryer and soap provided.
- The Message Therapist shall comply with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations, professional code of ethics, Air Force guidance, DoD guidance, and Message Therapist practice standards.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE LICENSED MASSAGE THERAPIST:
- Degree/Education: None required
- Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: a certification from an accredited Massage Therapy program
- Experience: minimum of two (2) years experience as an MT working in elite level athletic communities, such as with Special Operations Forces or Division I collegiate, Olympic, or professional sports athletes.
- Licensure/Registration: maintain a license or certificate with the state of Maryland
- U.S. Citizen (for access to Government computer systems)
