Schedule:




  • 12-Hour Rotating Day Shift or Night Shift



  • Hours: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM or 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM



  • 2-2-3 rotation (work 2 days, off 2 days, work 3 days; then alternates)





Pay rate: starting at $22/hr

Position Overview

A Toolmaker Apprentice is responsible to support Class A and Class B toolmakers in mold cleaning, mold set-up tasks, and light machining. The person in this position is working through continued education to become a toolmaker.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Assist in scheduled and emergency tooling repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, cleaning and mold set-ups.


  • Perform machining operations under the guidance of toolmakers to support tool room activities and schedules.


  • Recommends changes to mold designs to improve life of assets and output of assets.


  • Knowledge and understanding of toolroom practices and fabricating techniques.


  • Follow all Key Operating Procedures, including but not limited to:





    1. Company and facilities policies.
    2. Safety-Use of proper PPE; adherence to all applicable safety rules.
    3. Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs)-Methods for performing work
    4. Standard Safe Operating Procedures (SSOP)/Good Housekeeping Standards.





  • Communicate in a positive and respectful manner to resolve all issues.


  • Ability to complete all documentation accurately.


  • Ability to ask for help when the need arises.


  • Other responsibilities and projects as assigned.


Experience and Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience, Two-year post high school education in machine trades.
  • Specific skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, strong mathematical skills, strong organizational skills.
  • Equipment & Machinery: Basic knowledge of machine operations.
  • Computer Experience & Software: Basic computer knowledge/use.
