Position Summary: The OSP Technician III position is responsible for the timely movement of material from SIG Operations to outside vendors. They will receive the material once it is processed through external vendors. The OSP Technician III works both independently and in a team environment and is responsible for coordinating with external vendors, planners, inspection, engineering, and receiving. This position has interactions with military and defense vendors and assists in the training of new hires.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Oversee and maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials, products, and supplies in proper inventory location.
  • Update and reconcile inventory quantities as needed.
  • Update transactions in the inventory system to enter new quantities and to remove inventory from one location to the production floor with no supervision.
  • Stage material at work centers as well as evaluate, trace, and correct data related issues.
  • Troubleshoot transactional actions and audits to determine the correct outcome, coordinating with internal support groups if there are any issues.
  • Create work orders and process in progression as outlined on the work orders.
  • Create MHS Work Orders and initiate change requests, routers, and prints within Agile as needed.
  • Move materials through the process using ERP and MRP system and performing cycle counts.
  • Coordinate the shipping, delivery, and receiving of raw parts, and provide vendors with drawings and specifications for processing.
  • Using Oracle, receive parts into SIG. Diagnose and correct the issue if parts are received incorrectly; process class 3 items.
  • Forecast raw parts and determine what is needed using Cognos.
  • Create Standard POs and Expense PO's up to $10,000. Verify pricing and commitments to vendors.
  • Actively seek and act upon ways to improve daily work processes to enhance quality and productivity and satisfy customer needs and expectations. Initiate and encourage others to resolve impediments and act on improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in 5S Workplace organizational activities and maintain the area in good working order through sustainment activities, including requests for maintenance when needed for both personal space and multi-use department spaces.
  • May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
  • Regular on-site attendance and punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
  • May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.


Education/Experience & Skills:



  • High School diploma or equivalent, typically requires 5+ years equivalent experience, prior experience as a Level II and or related experience with Logistics, Planning, or Purchasing is required.
  • Previous experience participating with problem solving teams for driving to root cause of internal and external quality failures, particularly related to prevention of customer escapes.
  • Ability to create Govt PO's.
  • Must be able to convey ideas and information clearly, concisely, and accurately to others, in English, both verbally and in written form.
  • Ability to regularly help in other areas of the team and work with and relay information to other departments on a consistent basis.
  • Ability to work ahead of schedule and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.


Working Conditions:



  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks.
  • Work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) except for lunch and break periods.
  • Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours.
  • The duties of this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing environment. Frequent standing, sitting, stooping/squatting, walking, and stair climbing can be expected along with frequent lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts containers, and materials up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently at a minimum of 50% of the shift, as well as undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
  • Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, ability to grip, reach, pull, turn, and use tools to torque fixtures in various machinery or in the assembly, machining, or testing of parts.
  • Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to focus on fine print.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. security mandates.
