Post Doctoral Researcher to pursue education and experience in research under the supervision of designated faculty in the Department of Biological Chemistry and Pharmacology, for a period generally not to exceed three years; performs basic science and applied research in the field of Gene Therapy with considerable scope and complexity; identifies and selects problems to be studied in agreement with Principal Investigator; plans and performs complex experiments and procedures; coordinates, collects, and analyzes data; prepares research results for publication in reports, papers, journal, books, presentations, conference and other media; prepare seminars, talks, and lectures; supervise over assigned research staff and students; assists with laboratory techniques and operates laboratory equipment; performs basic lab maintenance duties; maintains lab supplies; and other duties as assigned. The general research interest is to develop Adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors to treat various diseases such as ocular blindness, and to study basic biology and virus host interaction. A major focus is vector engineering to enable more effective, safer, and regulatable gene delivery. Projects are designed with strong translational potential and the promise of significant clinical impact. Required Qualifications
