UCI CARE provides free and confidential support services to members of the UCI community who have been impacted by sexual assault, relationship abuse, family violence and/or stalking. Programs and services are available to people of all identities and regardless of status. UCI CARE aims to end these forms of power-based personal violence by engaging the campus community in education, programming, and transformative action.


Your Role on the Team

Supervises the professional advocates providing confidential support services, crisis intervention, resource information and referrals. Assists with the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, grant, and material resources. Oversees holistic healing programs. Manages and leads campus and community advisory boards and builds relationships with partners in support of the expansion of services for survivors. Conducts presentations and trainings for campus and community groups. Oversees the assessment of support services for the department and in alignment with grant deliverables.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals who have experienced interpersonal violence which includes sexual assault, intimate partner violence, stalking and harassment.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills and experience to guide advocacy and support services.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner; strong problem-solving and interpersonal abilities to function as a resource to professional advocacy staff on especially challenging, sensitive or complex cases.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people of various ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, sexual orientation and gender identities.
  • Advanced experience in speaking in front of diverse audiences and the ability to adapt materials quickly so that the audience can understand the concepts being presented.
  • Advanced ability to maintain professional boundaries with survivors and ensure legal protections of confidentiality and privilege are adhered to by subordinates.
  • Strong skills in assessing levels of emotional distress and reacting appropriately.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within and outside of the university system in developing relationships and programs to address issues and needs.
  • In depth experience with computer programs used in the university such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, case tracking systems and other key programs necessary to perform the requirements of the position.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and ethical standards associated with profession, such as the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights/Title IX, Violence Against Women Act, Clery Act, CA Victim's Rights Laws, and The White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault, and other relevant state and federal legislation and UCOP mandates.
  • Ability to manage fiscal resources effectively.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the interpretation and implementation of federal and state law related to sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area
  • California Certification for Sexual Assault Crisis Counselor Training
  • California Certification for Domestic Violence Advocates
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working with survivors of power-based personal violence

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training preferred

Special Conditions:

  • Must be able to provide services, advocacy and crisis intervention during non-business hours as appropriate.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality within the bounds of applicable laws and regulations.
  • Must pass a background fingerprint screening.
  • This is a one year contract position with renewal up to 3 years, dependent on business need.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $88,000- $106,400 (Annual).
