As a Commercial Sales Territory Manager plays a critical role in expanding PPG's market share by growing existing direct accounts while supporting the distributor network with the necessary efforts to maintain and increase their sales. This is a technical sales position that requires a strategic and hands-on approach to sales, distributor development, and customer relationship management within a defined geographic territory. Reporting directly to the Global Sales Manager you will cover Texas and Oklahoma, requiring an understanding of the regional market dynamics and customer needs. CTM's direct and distributor customers include miscellaneous manufacturers that paint the products they manufacture, custom coaters working for manufacturers, and heavy-duty commercial truck collision repair or repaint facilities. Key Responsibilities
- Grow sales within a defined territory, including existing direct accounts and distributor-managed accounts using a disciplined and defined approach.
- Prospect, qualify, and convert new leads for both direct and distribution sales channels.
- Assess distributor capabilities and work to improve their performance through training and support.
- Collaborate with the sales team to review targets, develop strategies, and manage sales opportunities.
- Lead opportunity rhythm calls and joint customer visits with distributor representatives to strengthen customer relationships and identify growth opportunities.
- Support and train PPG's digital tools at distribution and end-user customers.
- Use CRM tools to manage territory activities.
- Deliver presentations and training sessions to distributors and end-user customers on PPG products and value propositions.
- Monitor and understand the competitive landscape to form sales strategies.
- Handle multiple sales opportunities at multiple stages of the sales process simultaneously.
- Travel up to 50-75%, including overnight stays, to support sales activities and distributor engagement.
- Participate in hands-on paint application and technical demonstrations to support customer training and product adoption.
Qualifications
- 5+ years' experience in industrial coatings or related technical field.
- Hands-on technical capabilities related to substrate preparation, painting processes, and application.
- Basic math skills and proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel (can perform complex functions), PowerPoint, Power BI, and CRM software.
- Sales and negotiation skills with a value-selling approach.
- Team-oriented with the ability to coach and collaborate.
- Have a valid Driver's License in good standing.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
