Description

The Laboratory Mechanician plays a critical role in supporting the Respiratory Therapy Department by ensuring the availability, functionality, and safety of respiratory equipment and supplies. This position is responsible for the processing, maintenance, and distribution of respiratory equipment throughout the medical center. Flexibility is essential, as the role requires adapting to changing priorities and working rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean, disinfect, assemble, and process a wide range of respiratory therapy equipment.
  • Maintain a consistent flow of equipment and specialty supplies to meet patient care needs.
  • Conduct advanced pre-use safety checks and calibrations on respiratory equipment.
  • Perform routine rounds across patient care areas to manage supply levels, locate equipment, and retrieve discontinued items.
  • Order and receive parts and specialty supplies using the EMPAC system, ensuring accurate documentation and inventory control.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment to ensure proper functionality, adherence to maintenance schedules, and up-to-date support documentation.
  • Provide support across all areas of the health system as needed.
  • Work flexible hours, including rotating day and night shifts, weekends, and holidays, as required.
Salary Range: $33.61-$44.32 Hourly
Qualifications
We are seeking someone with:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience with respiratory equipment handling and maintenance preferred.
  • Familiarity with hospital inventory systems such as EMPAC is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including rotating weekends and shifts.
  • Ability to stand, sit, push, kneel, crouch, and reach for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to Lift, push pull, and carry a minimum of 35 lbs.
