Position Summary:
The Shipyard Superintendent will serve as a key leader in our shipyard operations, overseeing and managing the berthing of commercial and government vessels. This role requires a exceptional project management skills to ensure the successful execution of berthing requirements and its supporting projects while at JMR's Shipyard. The Shipyard Superintendent is responsible for the overall daily coordination and supervisionof a shipyard facility operations. This position ensures safe, efficient, and organized executionof all activities within the shipyard and its supporting facilities, coordination of vessels,berthing agreements, and vessel logistics. The Shipyard Superintendent serves as the primarypoint of contact for vessel coordination while in port and supports the scheduling and oversight of all facility activities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight
*Manage and track berthing agreements, vessel arrivals and departures, and all relateddocumentation.*Coordinate and communicate vessel support requests such as shore power connections,pumping, fueling, and utility services.*Ensure any major services or repair requests are sent to the JMR Production Manager forapproval and execution.*Coordinate with the JMR Gate Guard and Safety Department to ensure all Contractorsand suppliers are vetted, and compliant prior to entering the facility.*Maintain accurate and timely communication with project management and vesselrepresentatives regarding all in-port activities and schedules.*Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors to execute berthingactivities in accordance with contractual requirements and industry standards.*Develop and manage detailed berthing plans, schedules, and resource allocation needs toensure the efficient and effective delivery of customers' needs.*Coordinate with vessel operators, and on-board personnel to schedule supporting repairs,minimize downtime, and ensure minimal disruption to vessel berthing operations.*Duties includes oversight of daily shipyard operations, warehouse storage, shipping andreceiving, tool room, material management, and yard/facility security.*Performs other duties as assigned as assigned by the Operations Manager.
Facility & Maintenance Management
*Develop and maintain tracking systems and spreadsheets for daily, weekly, monthly,and annual facility maintenance tasks.*Receive, log, track, and prioritize maintenance requests from across the shipyard.*Coordinate with internal maintenance personnel or contractors to ensure timelycompletion of repairs and upkeep.
*Oversee and delegate disbursement, maintenance, and scheduling of company vehiclesand equipment.*Monitor facility conditions and coordinate preventive maintenance to reduce downtimeand ensure readiness.
Leadership & Safety
*Lead, mentor, and support shipyard staff in daily operations.*Must comply with the Companies safety, environmental, and OSHA standards.*Promote a proactive safety culture by addressing hazards, conducting inspections, and communicating expectations.*Serve as a liaison between operations, safety, logistics, and project management teams.
Qualifications: * Minimum 5 years of experience in facility management, ship repair, shipyard, or marine
industrial operations (supervisory experience preferred).
* Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
* Knowledge of vessel support systems (electrical shore power, pumping, fueling, etc.).
* Adhere to relevant regulations and guidelines, such as those from regulatory bodies and
classification societies, to ensure adherence throughout vessel berthing execution, to
include familiarity with ship class standards, OSHA regulations, and government contract
compliance (GFM, access control).
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel and tracking/spreadsheet-based reporting.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
* Ability to work with minimal direction.
* Ability to independently determine methods and procedures on new assignments.
* Ability to provide guidance to others.
* Ability to determine appropriate actions, methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for
expediting results by exercising independent judgment within defined practices and
policies.
* Ability to follow an organized method in approach to work while being cognizant of the
time needed to provide a service or product.
* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,
technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
* Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of
managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
* Strong communication skills, including oral, written and interpersonal skills to effectively
communicate with subordinates, management, and customers.
* Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, and
fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
* Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to
practical situations.*Ability to read and interpret blueprints.*Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables insituations where only limited standardization exists.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to tour all vessels, piers, docks, and work sites to perform the duties of this job. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus. (Ability to view computer monitors without eye strain for extended periods of time).
