This position will lead Carilion's Oncology Navigators. Carilion Clinic is seeking a dynamic and experienced healthcare leader to serve as the Director of Oncology Navigation. This critical leadership role is responsible for the strategic direction, operational management, and ongoing development of Carilion's oncology navigation program. The director will oversee a team dedicated to guiding patients through every phase of their cancer journey-from diagnosis to survivorship-ensuring seamless, high-quality, and patient-centered care across the continuum.
- Responsible for the development, growth and adaptability of the service-line oncology navigation program focusing on continuity and cohesiveness of patient care.
- Change leader who can continuously evaluate and refine the program and processes to enhance safety, patient experience and quality all while improving daily operations and patient outcomes.
- Lead operational activities of the oncology navigation teams through effective communication, administration, and implementation of best practices.
- Manages administrative and support staff to assure cost effectiveness and achievement of goals and budgets.
- Provides leadership and quality-focused standardization across the organization focusing on the patient experience from the point of entry, through diagnostics, diagnosis and treatment planning for cancer patients through survivorship.
- Establish quality standards for the oncology navigation teams to include tracking, trending and establishing action plans for outlined metrics.
- Plans the implementation of directives, standard policies and procedures and protocols as approved by senior management or the board of directors.
- Plans for growth, staffing, services, educational opportunities and effective performance improvement in collaboration with Human Resources. Utilizes developmental planning to expand employee skills and abilities.
- Responsible for operational plans and fiscal management including budget development, implementation and monitoring for multiple departments.
- Responsible for supporting service line mission and meeting goals and scorecard objectives utilizing a system approach. Aligns work with strategic goals. Responsible for assuring compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies.
- Consistently deliver the best in customer service and patient care. As a team member, demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in each encounter with patients, families, visitors, and other employees.

What We Require:
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent 8 years of experience required. Master's degree preferred If the area(s) of responsibility employs and have responsibility for supervising RNs, a nursing degree at the minimum of the BSN level is required for Magnet compliance. MSN is preferred.
Experience: 5-7 years of leadership and relevant experience in Oncology, Navigation, or Care Management
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Currently licensure as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or Oncology Nurse Navigator certification preferred.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Leadership, planning and organizational skills to manage multiple departments and to direct the successful completion of initiatives and achievement of fiscal goals. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication abilities to support and promote a respectful, inclusive culture of service excellence.
