THE POSITION

The Enterprise Information Security Office is eager to welcome an Information Security Specialist 3 to direct the team. Assigned to the Security Operation Section, this position performs administrative and advanced technical work directing security hardware and software infrastructure for Enterprise security administration, planning, and design. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

An Information Security Specialist 3 configures, implements and maintains security policies at access points including the Internet, delivery center firewalls, data center load balancers, delivery center network intrusion prevention, delivery center network threat prevention, and remote access VPN. Work involves using software tools to test and certify the connections as compliant with the policies. This position directs team (contractors) and supervises System Administrators in numerous tasks, ensuring compliance with all commonwealth policies and standards. You will have the opportunity to serve as a central point with the delivery centers and vendors concerning security and network access

Additional duties:

  • Serve as point of escalation for security operations issues; manages resolution and provides status and incident reporting to management
  • Serve on RFP committees as requested to help agencies, delivery centers and state government to define network security needs and evaluate vendors' proposals
  • Provide support through 24x7 helpdesk for security questions, changes, and troubleshooting
  • Plan and coordinate proof of concepts to test new security methods, technologies, and products

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, two to three days at the office depending on operational needs. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Information Security Specialist 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience performing technical work in information technology security, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or
  • Two years of experience performing technical work in information technology security, and a bachelor's degree in any information technology field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires you to possess four or more years of full-time professional load balancer administration experience and four or more years of full-time professional Zscaler administration experience.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
