The Position

The Port of Portland is hiring for a Parking Enforcement Agent.

We are seeking an individual that would ensure an orderly flow of traffic (both vehicular and pedestrian) on terminal roadways/crosswalks, while providing enthusiastic customer service at the airport.

This is a part-time position with at least 30 hours scheduled a week (additional hours and overtime available) - INCLUDING full benefits.

Expectations for the work schedule will vary; Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Essential Job Duties

  • Provide direction to drivers of vehicles dropping off and picking up travelers on terminal roadways at Portland International Airport (PDX).
  • Guide pedestrian traffic on the airport terminal sidewalk and crosswalks.
  • Answer questions and provide information to customers regarding airport use, services, and the Portland metropolitan area.
  • Monitor disabled parking zones in the parking garage when requested for assistance with enforcement action.
  • Works towards resolution of concerns with a demeanor of kindness and an attitude of service, being cooperative and non-confrontational, actively forward complaints to the appropriate department.
  • Issue parking citations and may testify in court as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of (1) one-year experience involving a high level of public contact is required.
  • Previous experience in traffic direction, parking control, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience demonstrating cooperative, tactful, and service-oriented contact with the public is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a stressful environment with difficult customers in a diverse multi- cultural environment is required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service is required.

Demonstrated Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills including, listening, verbal, non-verbal and in writing.
  • Communicating effectively under stressful situations while maintaining composure and conveying clear concise information.
  • Basic computer skills using Microsoft Office, including Outlook.
  • Demonstrated experience working with limited supervision.

Abilities & Competencies:

  • Demonstrate the Port's commitment of valuing differences among individuals and passion for being inclusive.
  • Build partnerships with strong customer service skills.
  • Resolve argumentative situations using verbal skills and tact.
  • Promote safety as a guiding principle and a regular practice in accomplishing work.
  • Pass a physical examination and baseline hearing test, when requested.
  • Work outdoors in extreme weather conditions and to be on feet for long periods of time. Work independently or in a group.
  • Proven team player that shows the utmost respect for others.


Supplemental and Selection Information

Compensation

Our organization adheres to established salary ranges for each position to ensure equitable pay practices. However, final offers are determined based on various factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and considerations of internal pay equity.

Selection Process (tentative schedule):

1. A minimum qualification evaluation of education, training, and experience of submitted application packets will take place by Human Resources the week of September 22, 2025.

2. A Subject Matter Expert (SME) Panel will perform an evaluation of experience and training taken from your employment application materials.

3. Our goal is to schedule virtual first round of interviews with candidates who successfully passed the SME evaluation by the week of September 29, 2025. Panel Interviews will be held week of October 6, 2025.
