TEKsystems' client in the Rochester, NY area is currently hiring a Computer Operator to join their team on a contract to hire basis. We are seeking driven individuals who have a strong desire to start their career in the IT field. This will be an overnight position.
*Description* On a nightly basis, this candidate will be responsible for data center operations on site in Rochester, NY location. They will be involved with managing the monitoring schedule of the Data Center, ensuring batch streams are running on time, reporting errors to programming support when needed, monitoring the environmental (heating/cooling of the data center), providing morning status reports, and doing shift turnover. Candidates do not need a ton of prior experience doing this, as they will be taught and trained on these fundamentals and have tools provided to help them do so. Shifts are as follows on an alternating weekly schedule *Week 1: 10 Hours (Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday)* *Week 2: 12.5 Hours(Monday, Tuesday, Friday)* The shifts are generally either 12 hours starting at 9p, or 9 hours starting at either 9p or midnight Schedule includes working every other Fri/Sat/Sun, and holidays as schedule dictates. *Technical Skills:* * Basic Troubleshooting - Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues. * Operating Systems Knowledge - Familiarity with Windows, macOS, and sometimes Linux. * Networking Fundamentals - Understanding of IP addresses, DNS, DHCP, and basic router/switch setup. * Software Installation & Configuration - Installing and updating applications, antivirus, and drivers. * Hardware Support - Replacing or repairing components like RAM, hard drives, and peripherals. *Soft Skills:* * Communication Skills - Explaining technical issues clearly to non-technical users. * Customer Service Orientation - Patience, empathy, and professionalism when helping users. * Problem-Solving - Ability to think critically and find solutions quickly. * Time Management - Handling multiple support tickets or tasks efficiently. * Team Collaboration - Working well with other IT staff and departments. *Experience Level* Entry Level *If you feel you are qualified for this opportunity, please submit your resume and a recruiter will reach out!* *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
