Summary:

The Director of the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) will be responsible for establishing, leading, and maturing the IT PMO function. This role will focus on standing up a centralized PMO that delivers strategic value through the implementation of project delivery frameworks, resource and portfolio management, and governance structures. The Director will drive the transformation of project execution processes, promote standardization and best practices, and ensure alignment with organizational goals. This is a key leadership role that bridges strategy with execution across enterprise-wide technology initiatives. Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Stand up and lead the Enterprise PMO to support strategic and operational project execution.

  • Define the EPMO's mission, vision, structure, and operating model aligned to IT and enterprise priorities.

  • Develop and implement PMO processes, methodologies, tools, and metrics for consistent project delivery.

  • Oversee the intake, prioritization, and execution of IT project portfolios.

  • Establish and maintain a robust project portfolio management (PPM) framework to ensure value delivery and resource optimization.

  • Lead regular portfolio reviews and reporting to senior leadership and stakeholders.

  • Implement a resource management strategy to track and optimize the allocation of internal and external resources.

  • Collaborate with department leads to balance capacity planning with project demands.

  • Create and enforce project governance policies, ensuring compliance and accountability across project lifecycles.

  • Standardize project management practices and templates across the organization, including project charters, status reports, and closeout procedures.

  • Act as a change agent in driving cultural and operational changes related to project delivery and governance.

  • Build project management capabilities through training, coaching, and mentorship of PMs and project leads.

  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to foster a project-driven mindset and ensure smooth adoption of PMO tools and processes.

  • Define KPIs and success metrics to measure project, portfolio, and PMO performance.

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and process optimization.

Physical/Mental Demands:
  • Position requires walking, sitting, and standing. Lifting is moderate; must be capable of lifting a minimum of forty (40) pounds. Reaching, handling, grasping and manual dexterity are necessary to operate various equipment.

  • Verbal and hearing ability are required to interact with staff, consultants, patients, and family members of patients. Numerical ability is required to maintain records and operate a computer.

  • Tact is required to interact effectively with employees and professional staff. Logical thinking and discretion required to make decisions in initiating and implementing policies, procedures, and standards.

  • Must be able to read and communicate through written, verbal, and auditory skills and abilities.

  • Must be physically/mentally able to perform job duties as verified by a physical exam by a licensed physician, per post-employment physical.

Qualifications Requirements:
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in project and program management within an IT or technology environment.

  • 3+ years of experience leading a PMO or similar project governance function.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise-level portfolio, resource, and project management principles.

  • Deep knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) and tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Clarity, Planview, ServiceNow, or similar PPM platforms).

  • Strong leadership, influence, and stakeholder engagement skills, including at the executive level.

  • Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Experience with IT governance, organizational change management, and driving enterprise transformation.

Education/Training Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Business Administration, or a related field.; master's preferred.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP), PMI-ACP, or equivalent certification preferred.

  • Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP), SAFe, or other Agile/Lean certifications are a plus.
