Summary:

The Brown University Health Credentialed Trainer (CT) reports to the EPIC Training Manager and the EPIC Project Director. Under general supervision, serves to facilitate and manage Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) training. Delivers end-user training and go-live support for a particular Epic application module. Serves as the primary form of Brown University Health support and provides ongoing support and training to the end user.

Responsibilities:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Consistently applies the corporate values of respect, honesty and fairness and the constant pursuit of excellence in improving the health status of the people of the region through the provision of customer-friendly, geographically accessible and high-value services within the environment of a comprehensive integrated academic health system. Is responsible for knowing and acting in accordance with the principles of the Brown University Health Corporate Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.

Delivers training to end users, and provides go-live and post-go live support for a defined period of time. Acts as first line of defense for continued Brown University Health championing and end user support.

Completes the credentialing process. Masters one or several Epic applications and the specific workflows of each application. May work with the Principal Trainer and others on the Brown University Health team to prepare curriculum and the Epic training environment, which may include pilot training to confirm accuracy of the educational materials.

Performs other duties as assigned.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE:

Clinical background preferred, for example: Pharmacist, RN, HIM, Laboratory, Radiology, Case Management, etc. Experience in billing, coding, front desk type positions will be considered. Medical terminology, preferred. Experience in clinical systems and/or teaching background, preferred. Skill and/or experience in adult education. Ability to teach in classroom, group, and one-on-one setting. Ability to effectively present material while managing the class. Demonstrates exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal skills; effectively communicates. Operates in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment. Willingness to learn and ability to retain knowledge. Exceptional organizational skills. Strong customer service and computer skills. Team-player mentality. Demonstrated ability to work independently, when required. Demonstrated appropriate and effective conflict resolution skills. Comfortable working in a healthcare environment at the point of care.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Sits, stands and walks intermittently throughout the day.

INDEPENDENT ACTION:

Incumbent functions independently within the department’s policies and procedures. Refers specific complex issues to supervisor when clarification of policies and procedures is required.
