GOVERNMENT AGENCY: Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)

POSITION INFORMATION: Full time

LOCATION: Chantilly, VA - Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days remote after initial 30 days fully onsite)

POSITION TIMING: Active Secret clearance required; must also be able to obtain and maintain a DEA Public Trust clearance (processing time: 4-6 weeks, must be completed prior to start)

JOB OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a Software Developer SME to support the DEA developing Web-based applications including online customer service for agency components to be able to deliver their services online. Provide support in developing the site concept, interface design, and architecture of the web-site. Provide support for the implementation of interfaces to applications.

After an initial 30-day onboarding period onsite, this role transitions to a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite, 2 days remote).



Responsibilities

    Working knowledge and experience coding in Java is required.
  • Knowledge of several of the following areas is desirable: Active Server Pages (ASP), JavaScript, and SQL Server, Visual Basic, JavaScript, MS Access, HTML, DBMS's (ex. - Oracle, Sybase, etc.).
  • Innovatively design, develop and implement a MS databases based upon technical specifications;
  • Ability to create macros, forms, reports and tables
  • Knowledge of importing and exporting database files from Microsoft Excel also unstructured and structured datasets
  • Integrate multiple database sources into a single database
  • Programming experience with Visual Basic for Applications and using SQL to query and manage information;
  • Ability to maintain and troubleshoot database issues;
  • Analyze current processes and facilitate efficient workflow processes;
  • Create user documentation on database processes;
  • Assist in the monitoring and diagnosis of performance problems. Familiarity but functional application knowledge and experience with the MS Access database and Microsoft SQL


Qualifications

  • Contractor shall have a Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, or Engineering and a minimum of 10 years of experience, developing/administering in SharePoint, Visual Basic and SQL environments.
  • Software development or experience in a related field is preferred.
  • Individual will develop analytical products and will be done by locating and identifying dispersed, ambiguous targets worldwide through combined leveraging of existing intelligence and innovative use of open source intelligence; by assessing commercial technologies to understand their potential and to determine how they impact drug enforcement's counter-terrorism and narco-terrorism programs.
  • Active Secret clearance
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

DESIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field
  • Experience working in a Federal IT environment
  • Scripting or automation experience (e.g., PowerShell)
  • Experience supporting system hardening and compliance initiatives

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Standard office environment; ability to lift 25 pounds.
