Position Description

Directs, plans, coordinates and supervises the operations and activities of a specialized unit or small department; develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities. Serves as liaison with university personnel and community at large. Works under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative and independent judgement.

Major/Essential Functions


  • Facilitates academic support for graduate students.
  • Participates in and coordinates comprehensive orientation activities for new graduate students.
  • Works with faculty and academic support personnel across academic programs to identify graduate student needs and related appropriate supports. Notifies students of university-wide academic programs and services.
  • Provides academic coaching for graduate students to help address individual learning needs.
  • Conducts academic success group sessions and workshops in coordination with the professional development council of the Graduate School.
  • Connects students with discipline-specific study materials and services.
  • Coordinates access to individual and group tutoring assistance.
  • Develops and conducts workshops for faculty focused on strategies for supporting student success.
  • Promotes academic support services to faculty and students through classroom visits, participating in campus events, and through university student communication channels.
  • Develops and conducts assessment of student learning outcomes from academic coaching services and workshops.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related area required plus five years progressively responsible management experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • Beginning to intermediate skills in Microsoft Office 365 including WORD, EXCEL, Outlook, and OneDrive
  • Experience in recruitment, admissions, or advising is preferred.
  • Experience with Canvas and Adobe Suite products is desirable.

Pay Statement
