This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As part of a hardworking team you will be responsible for determining the structural integrity of power generating components including solar arrays, fuel cells, and batteries. Additionally, you will be working closely with other structural analysts and design engineers to guide design decisions and provide sign off on engineering documents.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Verify structural integrity using analytical methods and finite element simulations
  • Coordinate with other engineering groups to determine system environments
  • Communicate analysis results to customers to inform design decisions and ensure requirements are met
  • Document structural analysis to support the release of engineering drawings / documents
  • Analyze test results to verify that requirements are met
  • Mentor design engineers to ensure sound design principles are applied for structural integrity
  • Provide sign off for engineering drawings, analysis reports, and related documents

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2+ Experience with structural analysis of composite and metallic structures
  • Understanding of common manufacturing and construction methods for composite and metallic structures
  • Experience performing static and fatigue analysis using both classical and FEM methodology
  • Work collaboratively in a fast-paced and often uncertain environment while demonstrating personal leadership, strong technical competence, and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
  • Proficiency with Simcenter Femap / NASTRAN or Ansys Workbench

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or other relevant field)
  • Understanding of Aerospace best practices, methods, and procedures
  • Experience supporting testing and correlating models with test data
  • Previous leadership experience providing technical guidance and direction to a team of engineers
  • Familiarity with aerospace system design requirements such as thermal, vibration, shock, EMI/EMC, acoustics, electrical grounding/bonding
  • Experience analyzing bolted joints per NASA-STD-5020
  • Familiarity with fracture control requirements per NASA-STD-5019
  • Experience conducting crack growth analysis using NASGRO

Compensation Range for:

CA applicants is $96,310.00-$134,833.65;CO applicants is $88,284.00-$123,597.60;WA applicants is $96,310.00-$134,833.65
