Scope of Position

Works under the direction of the Perioperative Business Manager to support the day-to-day business and facility operations of the James Perioperative Department which encompasses the Pre-Operative, Anesthesia, Operating Room, Post-Operative, Extended Recovery areas both at The James Cancer Hospital and Research Institute and The James Outpatient Care.

This position focuses primarily on inventory and implant management, billing accuracy, vendor coordination, and environmental monitoring. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ordering surgical implants, supplies, instruments, and equipment
  • Creating requisitions and overseeing purchases
  • Managing implant and tissue inventory (including compliance with FDA and Joint Commission requirements)
  • Reviewing billing and resolving discrepancies in collaboration with clinical teams
  • Overseeing vendor/visitor access, including "ticket to ride" compliance
  • Monitoring room temperature, humidity, and gas tank inventory
  • Serving as backup for other team members in the Perioperative Business Office

Position Summary

The Office Services Senior Coordinator performs essential non-clinical administrative functions which impact the operations of the Perioperative Department. This critical role provides the essential support to our daily operations; Works under minimal supervision; Determines and ensures that appropriate actions are taken to meet departmental goals and operational needs; Position emphasizes coordinating, organizing, evaluating, and facilitating information in different formats to accommodate a variety of customer needs; Works closely with Periop staff, surgeons, Revenue Management, Value Analysis, other Medical Center departments, and vendors and visitors entering the perioperative department.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED. Certification or vocational training may be preferred. 2 years of relevant experience required. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and facilitation skills. Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete projects. Analytical skills and computer skills, including knowledge and use of spreadsheet and word processing software, electronic mail and the Internet.Ability to learn new systems software.Independent and self-motivated.

Additional Qualifications: Operating Room or Perioperative experience preferred.
