Summary: The Terminal Operator will be responsible for a variety of work assignments across the Nederland Terminal. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential job duties for this position are listed below: * Must be able to train, qualify and relieve as a rail operator, dockworker, bunker operator, "C" operator and perform maintenance duties as directed. * Required to fill vacancies when qualified in multiply job classifications. * Normally works a floating, rotating shift and the assigned shift is routinely subject to change. * The employee is expected to work overtime and will be subject to call out. * Must perform work assignments safely and effectively. * Must be able to work in inclement weather and be able to climb stairs, ladders and gangways. * Must be able to learn API and marine procedures regarding measurement and sampling Special Considerations: * The described job duties are a framework in which work will be assigned. This description is not inclusive of all responsibilities or job assignments. This position will require extended off-hour duties at times. Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below: * High School diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree in Process Operations Technology preferred. * Must be proficient in basic mathematical calculations and have good verbal and written communication skills. * Requires prolonged walking, sitting, bending, stooping and telephone/radio communications. * Must be able to work in severe weather conditions. * Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly and 100 pounds occasionally. * Ability to stand for long periods of time. * Requires on-call availability at all hours. * Requires ability to respond to emergencies at all hours. * Maintain a valid driver's license for the state of residence. Working Conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. * Driving, walking, and standing frequently * Exposure to adverse weather, cramped conditions and some heavy lifting * Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment
