DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Insurance Market Conduct Examiner 1, you will participate in market conduct examinations, which can take place on-site at insurance companies or in-house at the Insurance Department's office or teleworking from home, to determine if companies are operating in compliance with Pennsylvania's statutes and regulations. Work includes reviewing insurance companies' files and electronic records to determine compliance with Pennsylvania statutes and regulations during a market conduct project, identifying violations of statutes, evaluating claims processing procedures and developing recommendations for corrective action.

This professional ensures insurance producers hold appropriate and active licenses. You will be expected to review companies' consumer complaint handling processes and complaint registers and prepare reports of findings. You will have the opportunity to identify and recommend corrective action necessary for insurance companies to remediate consumer harm as well as to address and correct findings of non-compliance. Attending and testifying at administrative hearings to support findings of projects may be necessary.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to three days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Insurance Market Conduct Examiner Trainee training program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of professional experience in insurance market conduct examinations, insurance company financial examinations, insurance investigations, insurance financial analysis, insurance underwriting, insurance policy review and analysis, insurance claims administration, or insurance sales, and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:
