Position Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Financial Counselor to join our Patient Access Services team. This role is responsible for guiding patients through financial assistance options, verifying insurance coverage, and ensuring accurate collection practices for medically necessary services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical billing, insurance verification, and patient financial advocacy. Key Responsibilities * Complete daily financial counseling workflows, including: * Running daily schedules for consults and new/added procedures * Verifying insurance benefits (VOB) and generating cost estimates * Collecting time-of-service payments and coordinating payment plans * Assisting patients with financial assistance and Medi-Cal applications * Collaborating with early-out collections partners for financing options * Monitor and collect outstanding patient balances * Apply and track financial assistance applications using AssistPoint * Maximize patient support through tailored financial counseling and education * Conduct patient education campaigns, including open enrollment outreach * Initiate and manage charity care applications per policy * Collaborate with onsite financial counselors, patient navigators, front office, and clinical staff to ensure a smooth collection process * Maintain and report monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Required Skills & Qualifications * Minimum 2 years of experience in a medical office setting with exposure to insurance, coding, and financial processes * Working knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, and CPT codes * Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint * Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to assess financial needs and respond to patient concerns * Experience with EMR systems (e.g., Epic), insurance verification, prior authorizations, and patient collections * Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience * Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed Top Skills: Medical billing, insurance claims, prior authorization, insurance coverage, patient collections, insurance verification, Epic, Medi-Cal, Medicare #westpriority25 Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.50/hr.
