*TekSystems is currently hiring for a Medical Surgical Scheduler or a Medical Office Assistant in the Towson area! *
*MUST HAVE: Any medical front desk, medical assistant, surgical scheduler, or any related healthcare experience. Prefer being certified! * *Description* Schedules all elective surgical procedures. Participates in the preparation of perioperative schedules and entry of data in the computer system. Ensures surgeon's preferences and patients' needs match available OR resources by accurate scheduling. Functions as a frontline point of contact for all physicians' offices. Exhibits customer service skills. Demonstrates critical thinking in initiating solutions to scheduling issues. 1.Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations. 2.Assists the specialty team leaders in preference card maintenance. 3.Assists with generating standard reports. 4.Communicates appropriately to the Patient Care Coordinator regarding prostheses and equipment necessary for specific cases. 5.Communicates effectively with physician(s) and physician's office staff and all customers to schedule surgical cases within the perioperative services. 6.Ensures the accurate and appropriate scheduling of all cases performed within surgical services. Responsible for the daily case schedule and communicating any needs for scheduling modification and development. 7.Ensures the validity and efficiency of the schedule by careful checking of times, procedures, physicians, (including the availability of anesthesiologists), x-ray films, and old charts before the schedule is duplicated and distributed. 8.Exhibits competency in computer skills and use of equipment needed in the perioperative scheduling process. 9.Maintains patient and associate privacy and confidentiality. 10.Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts. 11.Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams. 12.Performs other duties as assigned. 13.Supports the establishment and execution of physician marketing strategies by providing efficient scheduling of cases and through excellent communication skills. 14.Uses budgeted resources (personnel, supplies, and equipment) judiciously to ensure efficient and cost-effective operation of the department. *Additional Skills & Qualifications* Education Education LevelField of StudyRequired/ Preferred High School Diploma or GEDstrong knowledge of medical terminologyRequired Work Experience ExperienceExperience DetailsRequired/ Preferred 1-2 years1 year experience in operating room or surgical office settingRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities KSAsProficiency Excellent customer service skills. Problem-solving skills based on written departmental guidelines and criteria. Data entry skills. Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software applications. Ability to work independently. Have to have at least 2 years of medical surgical scheduling experience. *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
