This role:

The Security Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing security operations to protect personnel, assets, and operations. This role oversees security vendor relationships, fire safety, business continuity planning, emergency drills, and emergency response coordination while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and organizational policies. The position will oversee daily operations of security and directly manages Security Supervisors and Contract Security Personnel. The Security Manager reports to the Associate EHS&S Director and is 100% onsite at the Bloomington, IN facility.

The responsibilities:

Security Operations Management



  • Manages relationships/contracts with external security service providers, including performance monitoring and vendor oversight
  • Develops, implements, and maintains security policies, procedures, and protocols across all facilities and ensures security vendors are trained/equipped to support implementation
  • Conducts yearly (or as needed) assessments and risk evaluations of physical security and security capabilities at each facility to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements
  • Oversees maintenance and utilization of physical security systems including access control, surveillance, alarm systems, and key management
  • Develops and maintains visitor management practices with Commercial Operations Team
  • Develops and maintains contract management practices with Engineering, Maintenance, and Facilities
  • Serves as point of contact (POC) between on-site security and Site Leadership Team (SLT) to detect, identify, and escalate actual or potential incidents, as needed
  • Coordinates investigation activities
  • Serves as Security POC for customer and/or regulatory audits
  • Manages and implements emergency notifications procedures for each facility as well as testing protocols and necessary drills (work with site Communications team on this)
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with external emergency services/law enforcement
  • Collaborates with Human Resources (HR) on security-related personnel matters and background investigations



Fire Safety and Life Safety



  • Assists Facilities with oversight/maintenance of fire prevention systems, equipment, and protocols
  • Ensures compliance with local fire codes, NFPA standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with fire marshal and local emergency services for inspections and compliance activities.
  • Manage fire safety equipment maintenance schedules and testing protocols.
  • Manage fire-watch program.
  • Maintain evacuation postage/signage within each facility
  • Develop and maintain fire emergency response procedures and ensure security vendors are trained/able to support those procedures
  • Establish, assess, and document evacuation routes and assembly areas for evacuation.
  • Establish and maintain accountability procedures for evacuations.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute all required safety and emergency drills including fire, evacuation, shelter-in-place, and other emergency scenarios as needed
  • Coordinate with department heads and safety wardens to ensure comprehensive participation
  • Maintain detailed records of all drills, including performance metrics and improvement recommendations
    Business Continuity
  • Coordinate the implementation and maintenance of site Business Continuity Plans (BCP).
  • Work with business areas to conduct annual review and update of plan and associated annexes/response protocols.
  • With help of business areas, conduct business impact analyses and risk assessments to support continuity planning.
  • Provide incident response support for incidents impacting operations, including coordinating resources, ensuring necessary participants are notified, recording minutes
    Emergency Response Coordination
  • Serve as primary emergency response coordinator during security incidents and crises.
  • Ensure emergency notification procedures are implemented, with Incident Commander/Crisis Comms working group determine what if any other communications required.
  • Ensure security vendors implement security response protocols for emergency events
  • Activate and manage Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during significant events
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, external agencies (including press/media), and emergency responders.
  • With communications, establish process for media management during large scale events.
  • Lead post-incident analysis and after-action reviews to identify lessons learned
  • Maintain 24/7 emergency response capabilities and protocols
    Compliance and Reporting
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, local, state, and federal safety and security regulations
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for drill frequency and documentation
  • Prepare and submit required regulatory reports and documentation
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure ongoing compliance
  • Interface with regulatory agencies during inspections and investigations
    Team Leadership and Development
  • Supervise security and safety staff, providing guidance, training, and performance management.
  • Develop staff capabilities through training programs and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of safety and security awareness throughout the organization



Required qualifications:



  • BS degree in Security Management, Emergency Management, Criminal Justice, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in security and/or emergency management
  • 3+ years of supervisory and/or people management experience
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and service contracts
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification required
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or similar security industry certification preferred
  • Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or equivalent continuity planning certification preferred
  • Additional emergency management certifications (CEM, AEM) preferred
  • Comprehensive understanding of physical security principles, systems, and technologies
  • Strong knowledge of fire safety codes, NFPA standards, and life safety systems
  • Experience with business continuity planning and emergency management.
  • Proficiency with security management systems, access control platforms, and surveillance technologies
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations including OSHA, ADA, and local emergency management requirements
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure during emergency situations
