Description

Job purpose

The Service Technician - Class A will repair and overhaul industrial natural gas engines in the shop as assigned by the Service Manager.

Duties and responsibilities



  • Must be able to perform shop overhauls.
  • Must be able to perform small generator repairs.
  • Must be able to perform standby generator repair.
  • Must be able to perform generator troubleshooting.
  • Understands compressions and can-do repairs.
  • Understands pneumatic engine controls.
  • Understands all phases of gas engine ignition systems.
  • Must understand general engine machine work fundamentals.
  • Stay informed of the changes in various models of equipment.
  • Through evaluation must be able to suggest/recommend any other required repairs.
  • Promote good welfare among the company and its visions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Must have 3 year(s) previous experience.
  • Must have G.E.D. High School Diploma, prefer applied certification (s) job description.
  • Certification in WED VHP technology and VGF technology preferred.
  • Must meet all of the qualifications of a Service Tech Class B.
  • Must have basic electrical knowledge.

  • Must have a working knowledge of the above-titled position and how it relates to the overall business and its' objectives.
  • Must meet goals and objectives set forth by the company.
  • Must conform to company policies and procedures set forth by the company.
  • Must have a current driver's license and acceptable driving record per WPI insurance carrier standard if driving a company vehicle. (ONLY IF JOB REQUIRES)
  • Must be able to pass and maintain drug and alcohol testing requirements as outlined by the Department of Transportation. (ONLY IF JOB REQUIRES)
  • Must be computer literate, a Windows-based environment preferred (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook).
  • Must be dependable and able to work independently.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to bend and twist several times a day.
  • Must have the ability to work flexible hours and days.
  • Must maintain good client relations.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance.
  • Must promote and maintain a clean, neat, and safe work environment.
  • Must have the ability to travel and stay overnight.
  • Must possess troubleshooting skills.
  • Must have the ability to effectively operate basic shop equipment.
  • Must have the ability to obtain advanced manufacturing certifications.
  • Must protect the company assets and interests.


Working Conditions:



  • Typical hours of work Monday through Friday; 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Weekend hours as necessary.
  • Outside work as required.
