The Agricultural Sciences Specialist will be responsible for providing technical expertise and program administration for Ocean Spray's Agricultural Sciences Program. Your focus will be on investigating innovative agricultural practices to optimize crop yield, quality, and sustainability and supporting related agricultural research projects. You will collaborate with grower-owners and Ag Operations teams to identify and address challenges related to soil health, pest control, and crop nutrition. Additionally, you will stay updated on industry trends and regulations to ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement in agricultural practices.
A Day in the Life...
- Manage a component of the OSC WI IPM (Integrated Pest Management) Program including the hiring, training, and supervision of seasonal IPM scouts.
- Assist in set-up and implementation of applied research to address key production, pest management, and environmental needs. Work collaboratively with external (e.g., universities) scientists as appropriate.
- Execute field sampling programs to support crop estimation, field inspections (supports contract management) and fruit samples for pesticide residue analysis.
- Be an integral member of our OSC Agricultural Sciences team and work collaboratively with the OSC Agricultural Operations (fruit receiving) network to ensure timely delivery of high-quality fruit.
- Be familiar with the Cooperative's rules and recommendations for Grower-Owner conduct in relation to producing and delivering the crop.
- Review and approve Pesticide Use Reports for individual farms.
- Attend Grower Industry meetings, workshops, and gatherings and participate on grower industry service committees.
