The Food & Nutrition Services team at Baptist Health Corbin plays an important role in supporting patient health and comfort through high-quality meal service. Food and Nutrition Services' goals are to provide a variety of nutritional, safe, attractive, healthy food choices for patients, visitors, and staff.

The purpose of the Room Service Ambassador is to serve meals to patients in a professional, efficient manner; instruct patients on the meal ordering system; assist patients with placing their meal orders within the limitations of the physician prescribed diet; and to assess patients' capabilities to utilize the meal order system. The Room Service Ambassador will be able to provide basic information to a patient regarding their physician prescribed diet and will alert the patient's Clinical Dietitian and/or Nurse when further education or assessment is needed. The Room Service Ambassador is the main representative (or "face") of the Food and Nutrition Services Department on patient floors. The Room Service Ambassador position works much of their time without direct supervision.

Job Description:

Room Service Ambassador

  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting patients with meal selections and ensuring dietary needs are met.

  • Communicate with patients using Catering to You guidelines and scripting, offering menu choices within prescribed diet orders.

  • Assemble and deliver meal trays accurately and promptly, ensuring proper portion control, presentation, and diet compliance.

  • Coordinate with the Diet Office, Dietitians, and Nursing to ensure accuracy of patient diets and timely delivery of special requests.

  • Offer appropriate menu alternatives for patients with food allergies, cultural preferences, or modified diets.

  • Set up and arrange trays within patient reach, assisting with meal setup and providing courteous service during delivery.

  • Retrieve soiled trays in a timely manner, following infection control and sanitation procedures.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to hospital safety, sanitation, and infection control policies.

  • Participate in training sessions, safety drills, and departmental meetings.

  • Demonstrate a positive, professional attitude and serve as a friendly representative of the Food & Nutrition Services team.

Requirements:

  • Food Handler Card or Servsafe Certificate (Preferred)
